Funny you posted this I’m about to order some sfx and thinking about some 4x5 infrared sheets for this summer. The idea of sleeping in and still getting out in the mid day sun to shoot is wonderful! Haha
I put my r72 on my digital camera from time to time and then apply a b/w profile to get rid of the red hue. I am not sure it is precisely and infrared effect, but I love the look. Great article and great photos.
Thanks for pointing me to your gallery! I liked them, especially the cotton candy trees in teh color ones. I came across a Fujifilm that has already been converted and pulled the trigger on it. My hope it to use some of my M-mount lenses on it but I read all this stuff about hotspots and the work needed in Lightroom, so it will be an interesting thing to mess with.
It is definitely a process that lends itself to experimentation. I am not sure I could duplicate a shot, but I feel like I can get close enough. Although a novelty, like fisheye lenses, they can be a great deal of fun. Enjoy!

Right on. You can probably guess what caused me to wrote this today. Lol.
Haha!
Nice post. Minor correction: Bob Dylan was photographed by Elliott Landy, not Landry.
Thanks for the comment and pointing that out. Much appreciated.

Thank you very much Jonathan. The way i understand it with non-IR converted cameras that is exactly the way to do it.
How can people not like images like this, like you said it's like black and white on Red Bull.
Thanks Randy!
I played around with IR. Bought a cheap Panasonic point-and-shoot that had been converted to full spectrum. Examples here:
